Yvonne Maffei is the founder of the website myhalalcooking.com and the author of the book, My Halal Kitchen. Ms. Maffei became interested in cooking and food around the age of 11 years old. Her passion started with her own parents. “This helped me see tradition and experimentation” says Maffei. She started her blog in 2008, after graduating college and traveling. Halal to Maffei, is not only finding out which animal you’re consuming, but “how these animals are raised, spirituality is important” says Maffei. Her upcoming goal is to create, own and produce an organic farm. “Grow my own produce, make the environment safe, clean for bee’s and safe for wild life” says Maffei.
